Paving GREEN in the City of Lakewood The City of Lakewood improved the City Recycling Center recently by installing a porous asphalt pavement. This is the location where citizens come to deposit recyclable goods.  The installation of the porous system is a bonus to many are already concerned about the environment.  The City will realize credits from the EPA as well as this pavement is adjacent to a waterway to the north.  Anticipated water quality from the City yard will be improved through the filtering process of the porous system. This 400 ton project was constructed by CAPA Member APC Construction Co. Inc. and was a cooperative effort between Lakewood Public Works and the City Storm Water Department. (Watch a video demonstration of how this works featuring Chris Jacobsen from the City of Lakewood )

CDOT Maintenance crews from Region 2 uses "Warm Mix Asphalt" on Willkerson Pass.
Wilkerson PassOn Tuesday June 21 and Wednesday June 22, CDOT maintenance placed WMA on Wilkerson Pass hauling the materials out of Colorado Springs. The material was a foamed product. The haul was up to 2 hours from theplant to the paver. The materials were produced and loded in Colorado Springs at 280 to 290 degrees, when they arrived at the site the temperatures were recorded between 270-275 degrees.
The crew indicated "We like it, the materials were as workable as if we were woring in town". "We typically have problems placing materials this far from town effectively, because it cools so much before placement".
