Several education programs are offered by the Rocky Mountain Asphalt Education Center. These programs were developed to provide everything from basic information about Inspection of Hot Mix Asphalt pavement construction to detailed training in specific quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) laboratory tests, HMA Mixture Design, Asphalt Inspector and Paving Personnel Training, Best Practices for HMA Equipment Operators, Asphalt Maintenance and Repair. An individual completing each of the education programs will be provided a well-rounded education in asphalt pavement construction with the background necessary to begin working in any area of the industry.

  • Asphalt Plant Production Seminar, (Fall/Winter 2010/2011)
  • Introduction to High Speed Profiling and Data Collection, This course will be for Engineers and anybody else who wants to understand the HSP and the data collected.
  • Introduction to Lab-field equipment maintenance/calibration,
  • HMA Maintenance and Repair (Fall 2010)
  • PerRoad Mechanistic Design Seminar (Webinar, Fall 2010)
  • Asphalt Maintenance and Preservation Inspection Seminar

WEB BASED ASPHALT TRAINING
The Rocky Mountain Asphalt Education Center is expanding its asphalt related training program and will be offering Web based seminars.  The seminars will be from 60 to 90 minutes in duration  and will be offered as a live webinar or may be viewed on an as needed basis recorded from the live broadcast. During the live broadcasts participants will have the opportunity to participate in the seminar by asking pertinent questions, interacting with the presenter and other attendees. The seminars will typically be held mid-day in the Mountain time zone, but may be held at a different time depending on the presenter being used for the seminar. These seminars will be presented by the staff of the RMAEC along with experts in the HMA industry from around the country.   The dates and times of the seminars will be listed by early December.  Here is a sampling of some of the webinars Scheduled. 

FHWA COMMITS $3,000 TO SUPPORT RMAEC WEBINARS – The Colorado Division of the FHWA has approved funding in the amount of $3,000 to support the continued development and implementation of asphalt technology webinars through the Rocky Mountain Asphalt Education Center (RMAEC).  Webinars are becoming a cornerstone of the RMAEC technical outreach program.  Much thanks to Doug Bennett, Assistant Division Administrator – FHWA CO Division and LabCAT Board Member for making this happen!!! 

All Webinars will be scheduled for approximately 1.5 hours.

Do you know what the policy is for registering a technician into the LabCAT Certification program? Do you know what may happen if a Certified technician is found to be falsifying reports or documents? Do you know what may occur if you verify a technician who is not qualified to be in the certification Program?  These and many other procedural questions can be answered by reading the current RMAEC Policy and Procedures manual.
