Several education and seminar programs are offered by
the Rocky Mountain Asphalt Education Center. These programs
were developed to provide everything from basic information
about Inspection of Hot Mix Asphalt pavement construction
to detailed training in specific quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA)
laboratory tests, HMA Mixture Design, Asphalt Inspector and
Paving Personnel Training, Best Practices for HMA Equipment
Operators, Asphalt Maintenance and Repair. An individual
completing each of the education programs will be provided
a well-rounded education in asphalt pavement construction
with the background necessary to begin working in any area
of the industry.
- April 13, "Asphalt Construction Management Forum", Better, Faster and More Efficient. This session will be held at the RMAEC and feature 2 consultants from FMI Corporation, Jake Appleman and Kim Morton, highlights of a successful project, The Woodman road project in Colorado Springs as discussed by Professor Cam McNair from the CSU Construction Management Program (Formerly employeed by Colorado Springs), Efficiency in Construction by Tom Peterson, Using research by Dr. Scott Shuler CSU and Keys to effective paving, by Tom Clayton. The LabCAT Asphalt Inspector Certification may be audited as an Education Course. Instructed by Tom Clayton, SET, Director of Training and Member Services. The session overview includes Inspector Responsibilities in the Elements of Inspection, Understanding the High Speed Profiler, and Inspector Tips and Tricks.

The Introduction to QC/QA Education Program offers Training in field and laboratory testing required for quality control and quality assurance (QC/QA) of hot mix asphalt projects. The training is designed to assist your lab and field personnel in preparing for asphalt technician certification.

- Asphalt Lunch and Learn
The Colorado Asphalt Pavement Association (CAPA) provides a free service called Asphalt Lunch & Learn Seminar toprovide training on the latest information, technology, and applications for asphalt pavement. Presentations are tailored to meet your needs. Generally, sessions last between 60 and 90 minutes depending on the information requested. Sessions can take place at any time of day – whatever is convenient for you and your colleagues.
- “Come to You” Asphalt Technician Training Session
Cindy Rutkoski, RMAEC Certification Instructor, will travel to your facility for training and preparation in LabCAT Levels A, B, C, and E certification.

The RMAEC conducts a series of web based asphalt training seminars. The webinars are live interactive training sessions presented by the RMAEC staff, as well as, HMA Industry experts.
